Lifestyle Choices

The practice has a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist, Richard A. Stein PhD. He is a neuroscience researcher at UC Irvine and an integrated team member. He is available for review of academic and mental testing to guide evaluation and treatment of a patient. This service allows the family to focus on the child’s strengths and to steer accommodations or therapies toward improving abilities in areas of weakness. His mastery of diet for brain health is the one of the most anticipated services we have, as diet is generally under emphasized in treatment of neurobehavioral concerns.

A trained health educator will be a helpful team member in your child’s care. (S)he will review treatment plans, give information on community resources, run seminars on various topics of interest, and teach Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLCs). TLCs are changes in behavior of the family and the patient such as getting enough sleep, getting outside to experience nature, practicing gratitude, and eating well. TLCs improve health and decrease symptoms, they have long lasting effects, are inexpensive or costless, generally have no side effects, and typically lead to the patient and the family feeling more control over health and wellness.
