We offer various types of brain wave recordings. Routine EEGs are conducted when the patient has less sleep than usual or no sleep the night before. Urgent EEGs are offered on a case by case basis. EEGs are ordered by primary care family practice or internal medicine or pediatric doctors, by neurologists and by other specialists. EEGs are performed on notice of one week.
Stellate EEG digital recording and analysis system is used for all in-office EEGs. This advanced system allows studies to be analyzed by the reading neurologist utilizing the most respected seizure and spike detection software. Stellate System Scan is considered premier equipment and used at Epilepsy Centers of Excellence, such as UCLA. We are very privileged and excited to provide this service locally.
EEG placements are performed using the Hydrodot EEG application system. These disposable EEG leads are faster to place and leave no paste on the head, therefore every child is nearly certain to have placement (no sedation needed). Avoiding sedation or a hospital stay for an EEG is important to EEG Services and our team. We beleive that avoiding sedation and getting the best possible results within a comfortable office (not a busy hospital setting) is another way that we help you move toward wellness.
Urgent EEGs will be performed on a case by case basis. We are the only practice that I am aware in which a doctor can place the EEG set up if an urgent need is found. When an EEG is set up urgently for evaluation of activity seen in the office, results can enhance the quality of the patient visit.
